Baltimore

smashcutoutSmash Gordon certainly lives up to his name. After a freak accident where a large tank of dangerous, destructive chemicals accidentally spilled on his head, Smash was born into a world of violence, anger, and fury.

PB305371Known for his inability to sleep, and his infinite passion for throwing large objects, destroying walls and embankments, and smashing everything around him into small pieces, Smash Gordon is kept in high security behind 7 inch thick titanium bars when not performing. Even the simple presence of a hater will send him into a furious rage, causing club banger after club banger to rain endlessly upon a concertgoers gentle face. Smash Gordon has performed on stage with the likes of POTD, Deadmau5, Kill the Noise, AC Slater, Rusko, Bird Peterson, and countless, countless other names. You enjoy dancing, he enjoys blowing things to pieces, and leaving nothing but rubble.

UNCLE JESSE

Emerging from the remnants of the Baltimore warehouse party scene in the mid-to-late-90s, Uncle Jesse is a duo of like-minded dudes that somehow thought naming themselves after a “Full House” character was a good idea. Obviously, these dudes really don’t give a f*ck.

Taking  influence from a wide variety of genres from Drum N Bass to Tech House to Baltimore Club and Breaks, Uncle Jesse describes themselves as equal parts Richie Hawtin, Scottie B, Bassment Jaxx, and Cajmere. The duo produces their own tracks (Soundcloud, Beatport,Turntable Lab), which have recieved rave reviews from the likes of Mad Decent, True Genius Requires Insanity, The Stay Spun and Dirty Friendz.

You find it difficult to make out the shadowy figures springing upon you at arms length as you navigate blindly through the dense fog which flashes in colors synchronized to the vibrations crushing through your feet and up your legs. The setting is 1992, at Club Orpheus in Baltimore’s Little Italy district, and screaming into your ears are industrial techno mavericks Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, and KMFDM.

Casting his wizardry with two Technics 1200 turntables suspended in the air by a system of chains and bungee cords, Leko demonstrated mastery of the night through his weapon of choice — the legendary Urei rotary mixer. This is the underground. And the underground is a deep experience, of which the music is just a part.

Having since emerged from the underground scene to crush party crowds under heavy multi-genre fists on dancefloors across the USA and around the world, Leko continues to cement his legacy. While not melting faces and inciting riots, he conspires to subjugate humankind through song. Under the guise of his own label, Tharsis Records, Leko has enlisted a global army of the world’s premier producers across all electronic genres from electro, fidget, and drum & bass to dubstep, breaks, and techno. Together, they are taking over the world, one city at a time. Should you encounter Leko in person, do not show fear. Relax. Loosen your mind. Let the music move you, and you will achieve Enlightenment.

NEUMANN

Jon Neumann began DJing in August of 2009 and he has been taking over the Baltimore scene ever since. He played his first Dub Nation in November of the same year, which was the Joker show and the first at Bourbon Street. Since then he has shared the stage with countless world renowned DJ’s at a number of Dub Nation parties as well as both Starscape and Ultra festivals.

Neumann’s sound varies from the hard hitting, filthy dubstep that has taken over the scene to the more mellow sound, with more real dub influence, that you hear all too infrequently these days; and if you are lucky you will hear him drop a drum and bass track here and there. Jon is a tireless DJ and he brings a special energy on the stage, so catch him at the next Dub Nation!

GRIME SYNDICATE

Grime Syndicate is a four man all Dubstep tag crew based out of Washington, DC. This audio gang bang is made up of DJ Myst, DJ Atticus, and Them Granny Slappaz, and let me tell ya’ they bring it pretty hard. These guys are very supportive of, and active in, the scene and you can find at least one of them at most of the parties in the area. Their greatest goal is to make the scene better as a whole and that is exactly what they do through their music and through their personal actions.

You can catch the individual members separately but together is the way to see them indeed, as they combine together like megazord into a giant raging filth-machine. All four of them jumping around, eyes bulging and bass faces on in full tilt rage, is a sight to be beholden and will keep you enthralled all night.

They also run a blog on their website. So check them out online.
