Early Reader Birds Get the Bass Worm

Posted: November 13, 2010

I know its all kinds of early but I wanted to get these artists to you guys before I went to work and in time for you guys to load up your respective music emitting medium for whatever your doing this morning, be it grocery shopping, soccer practice with the kids, or nursing that hangover. So I will get right to it.

I Have for you one giant in the local scene and a couple of the artists on the bill that I am less familiar with.

Leko

Here is someone who has seriously been around the scene since nearly the beginning. From what I can tell on his artfully written but oddly cryptic Bio on his website (which has some pretty awesome content on it) he started his career back in ’92 at Baltimore’s own Orpheus club at an industrial party. I will for sure be digging deeper into Leko’s story soon, so keep your eye’s open for that. But regardless of where exactly he started I can tell you that leko has come to be a major player in this scene, playing everything from breaks to drum and bass, and running Tharsis Records. Don’t miss what is sure to be an inspiring set from this local dance titan.

Here is the Massive artist Megamix he did. This is a great way to do the least amount of work to really get a feel for whats going down on the 27th. However I recommend that you work harder than that but if you must be so lazy…

Here is a sexy little drum and bass mix he put out recently. You really have to be ready for anything from this guy!

If you want more bop over to his myspace or his website for original productions and more mixes.

Xphouriah

This producer and DJ from Norfolk I have never heard of. I checked out his tracks and they are well produced if not a little on the conventional side. The mix he has up is good DNB with a pretty good track selection (although it is a little old). Although I dont know much about him this guy gets my sticker of approval because he is making his own tunes.

Dubstep track. His most recent and Best in my opinion.

*Edit: This track is actually being released on Leko’s Tharsis Records soon. guess its a good thing I put them right next to each other on this post.

The dnb mix.

Shuggadadde and Hot Pocketz

Another performer I am unfamiliar with, and this one I could only find information on half of. Shuggadadde plays fidget and he plays it fast and glitchy. I assume that Hot Pocketz is the same but I couldn’t find anything on him anywhere.

Shugadadde’s latest mix.

Remember!

I am updating and changing things around on the website (contests, comments, and other awesomeness) so if you want to tell me something you want or what you like/hate about the blog please email me at partychu@gmail.com. I want to know whats in your brains!
